Dibujos sin truco

Con los dibujos de Verónica Blejman siento tanta empatía que me parece hasta incestuoso hablar de ellos, veo tantas afinidades formales y temáticas para con los míos que indebidamente me sentiría egocentrista al enumerarlas.

Quizá valdría la pena comenzar mencionando que así la conocí. Navegando por la red llegué a su sitio, al ver su trabajo y sentir tanta afinidad le mandé un correo para hacer contacto, chateamos unas ocasiones y al poco tiempo ya le había enviado mi libro "Cursiagridulce", como para sellar esa complicidad implícita que da la afinidad por ciertos temas y ciertas líneas, aun a miles de kilómetros de distancia.

Verónica trabaja con personajes, frases y circunstancias, con trazos limpios y contundentes retratan momentos o individuos que corona con un pensamiento, una oración o unas palabras que hacen que la escena nos lleve más allá de ese dibujo. Tiene la magia de tele-transportarnos, a donde sea que nos llegue y de la compañía de quien nos calé. Así de simple y complicado, y por eso a dibujar lo considero un acto mágico y a ella una gran maga.

Lo que realmente admiro de sus dibujos es la sencillez, ese trazo infantil que puede simplificar un sentimiento atrofiado, retorcido o complicado, como lo es el amor, la nostalgia, o el amor por el amor, o la nostalgia por el amor, o el amor por la nostalgia. Y al enumerar todas estas opciones me siento mas porteño que ella y se que por eso es más fácil dibujar que hablar de estas cosas, y por eso vale la pena conocer sus dibujos más que tratar de explicarlos.

Por eso tanto ella como yo nos dedicamos al antiguo oficio del dibujo. Abracadabra...

Verónica Blejman, minimalist drawings
Verónica Blejman is an artist and illustrator based in Buenos Aires, Argentina after 6 years spent in Barcelona. Her beautiful drawings and paintings are created with minimalist colour palette and inspired by every day poetry. The characters have no face and are standing still but a few details and words are enough to tell the story with a subtil humor. On her site we can see the evolution of the drawing line since a few years. The paintings are more abstract with strong compositions. Verónica Blejman’s work features in different sites and magazines around the world, also she was part of many exhibitions (individuals and collectives) at different galleries like: The Gallery Base Elements (Spain), Crimson Gallery (Arg), Noventa Grados (Spain), Mau Mau (Spain), Kitchen Gallery (Spain), Artists love Barcelona (Spain), Contrast (Spain), & Sevilla Art Space (Arg).
